Recording tips and Microphone Compatibility

Recording audiobooks or podcasts has never been easier with Papaya FM!

We recommend using your smartphone device to record directly. You already have a very powerful, noise canceling microphone in your pocket – no expensive equipment required.

Tips for recording with your phone:

  1. Hold the phone up to your ear for the best quality, and to block out background noise.
  2. Your phone will do most of the work for you, but if you really want to remove background noise completely, try covering any hard surfaces like floors and walls with blankets and pillows
  3. Be sure to hold the phone close to your mouth, whether you’re recording in telephone mode or speaker mode (and if you’re recording in person with others, make sure it’s close to whoever’s speaking)
  4. Think about sounds that are specific to the event you’re recording and capture those on tape.

Record on the go with a microphone

We also support most smartphone mics and bluetooth equipment for recording! If a mic works with your phone, it should also work to record with Papaya FM. (If you have any trouble connecting your existing mic to Papaya FM, please report it to our Support Team).

If you want to use a USB mic, that should work too; just find the right adaptor for your phone.

Desktop/Laptop recording

If you have an existing desktop/laptop, you can record in your preferred desktop software with a microphone and upload your audio file directly to Papaya FM’s website!
